Theology can ruin our faith if we let it! Did you know many formal theologies teach that you cannot know that ye have eternal life, and even that you cannot believe on the name of the Son of God. For example, Calvinism teaches that total depravity equals total inability, and so you cannot choose to believe on the name of the Son of God, O, and you cannot know if you are saved (elect). 1 Jn 5:13 clears up a tremendous amount of bad doctrine in one verse.
