Our Values
A church for all peoples, to all peoples.
We believe that God wants to use every believer in Jesus Christ to reach the world for His glory. This means that MBT is devoted to equipping one another to live out the word of God in our community in the name of Jesus.
The Midtown Kansas City community is richly diverse. One of our desires is that our church reflects that diversity of race, age, and socio-economic background. We hope all feel welcomed as well as challenged to pursue Christ according to His Word.
You’ll often hear Pastor Sam say that our goal is to be a soul-winning, disciple-making, leadership-equipping, sending church. This means there are four main ways we endeavor to see God’s word made a reality in the life of every person.
Evangelism
Before someone can live out the word of God, they must first come to know Jesus Christ as their Saviour. But in order for this to happen, someone must first preach the gospel to them. That’s why at MBT, we emphasize the need for evangelism both corporately and individually.
Discipleship
After salvation, God’s desire for the believer is to be a disciple—someone who follows Jesus with their whole life. To help God’s will to be made real in every Christian’s life, we encourage everyone at MBT to go through Biblical Discipleship. This one-on-one relationship with a mature believer helps someone grow in their knowledge of God’s word and see firsthand what it looks like to live it out.
Ministry Training
We are commanded by God to make disciples who make disciples. That’s why we offer deeper biblical training through Living Faith Bible Institute. God desires every one of his children to be able to lead others to know Him, and we desire to equip every member to obey God in this way.
Missions
While God’s mission begins with local churches training up ministers, it doesn’t end with that. We are commanded to make disciples of all nations. Throughout the New Testament, we see that the biblical pattern of missions is that of church planting. Since getting started in 2007, we are thankful to have been led by the Holy Spirit to send out several church planting teams, and we are in constant prayer about how God would have us continue.
