Vietnam for Christ
Andrew Ong accepted Jesus Christ as His Savior in 1998 but it was not until 2001 that he learned about discipleship through Kansas City Baptist Temple (KCBT).
Discipleship changed his trajectory in life and The Great Commission became a priority. He served in the college ministry under Pastor Sam Miles and pursued God through D2 and Shepherd School of Ministry now Living Faith Bible Institute (LFBI).
In 2005, he was sent to London England to assist in the mission work there. Through trips back to his home church Midtown Baptist Temple (MBT), he was reacquainted with his friend, Rachael who became his wife in 2012!
In the same year, Andrew also became a licensed minister and started an international ministry called Friends of Internationals (www.foikc.com). By God’s grace, many students from all over the world came to Christ, were baptized, discipled, and are actively discipling others. The vision is to see students sent back to their home country to reach their people to Christ.
Vietnam is a communist country and meeting as a congregation without the appropriate license is prohibited.
Nevertheless, we will trust God to navigate the environment so that the vision of disciple making disciple is multiplied across this nation. Lord willing, the goal is not just to see churches planted but to have an Antioch church in Vietnam as a model so that it can be an ensample to others that God is worth all our love, mind, and soul.
We want to invite you to join us
in prayer, financially, and to come in person for short and or long-term mission trips
to see many souls won to Christ and discipled!

Letter from our Senior Pastor
Dear Pastor,
I am excited to recommend Pastor Andrew Ong as a missionary and church planter to Vietnam.
Andrew has been my friend in ministry for over 20 years. He was member of our College Ministry in my early days as a pastor and served faithfully in our UMKC Bible study outreach and discipleship ministries.
We sent him to London, England to assist a missionary in 2005 where he worked for a financial firm as he learned to adapt ministry and culture from missionaries in England. Upon his return to Kansas City in 2012, he married his wife Rachael who was serving in our College & Young Adults Ministry here at MBT. They have since started a family and have two lovely daughters. Andrew has supported himself as an entrepreneur as he grew and ministered to and with our congregation.
In 2012 Andrew founded Friends of Internationals Ministry Outreach, organizing and pastoring our members as they learned to reach out to international students with the love of Christ. This Friends of Internationals team has been extremely fruitful. Andrew has led many to Christ and both he and Rachel have discipled many who are now actively making disciples themselves.
Andrew is a graduate of the Living Faith Bible Institute and an ordained minister currently serving with our MBT pastoral team.
Andrew has the support of Midtown Baptist Temple as his sending church. We are with him without reservation in the work God has called him to in Vietnam, and we are willing to advise and help him as he engages for the Lord there. Already, there is a growing group of disciples in Vietnam as a result of Andrew’s faith and leadership. We look forward to how God will use him!
You can read more about his story at www.mbtkc.org/vietnamforchrist.
Andrew and his family will be on deputation beginning in mid-February in Florida, working back to Kansas City and would be happy to cover other regions as well. Would you have time to meet up with him and hear about his calling to Vietnam? If you are available, please either let me know, or connect directly with him at 816-288-1997 or via email at aong@mbtkc.org.
